The Eighth Creation | Eighteen Curated Moments
Some locations invite you back.
The Fox Guesthouse Residence was one of those places.
Nestled within a quiet guesthouse setting in Sandton, this residence offered a beautiful balance of comfort, light, and thoughtful design. From the moment I first arrived, it felt like a location that held more creative potential than could be explored in a single stay.
And so, I returned.
By booking the guesthouse twice, I was able to take my time within the space and fully explore what it had to offer, ultimately curating eighteen carefully crafted visual creations across both visits.
A Space That Invited Return
What made this location so special was its warmth.
The guesthouse carried a welcoming atmosphere, with an open-plan kitchen, spacious lounge areas, and a beautiful bedroom that allowed for elegant, intimate scenes to unfold naturally. Beyond the interior spaces, the garden offered moments of calm and greenery that created a completely different mood for filming.
Each area of the property held its own character.
And each return visit allowed me to discover something new within the environment.
Eighteen Creations
Across my two stays at the guesthouse, I curated eighteen visual pieces, moving between the garden, the open living spaces, and the comfort of the bedroom.
The variety of environments allowed the collection to feel layered — some moments bright and open, others softer and more intimate.
Rather than feeling like separate recordings, the pieces come together as a complete chapter of experiences within the same residence.
A Residence of Possibilities
The Fox Guesthouse Residence became one of the most generous locations in my archive.
Returning to the same place allowed me to slow down and allow the environment to guide the process rather than rushing through a limited window of time.
Each visit added another layer to the collection.
And by the end of my time there, eighteen creations had been carefully curated within its spaces.
Chapter Eight of the Archive
As the eighth location in the McKenzie Fox archive, the Fox Guesthouse Residence represents a moment of creative expansion.
By revisiting the same location twice, the collection grew naturally into something richer — a series of creations shaped by familiarity, comfort, and the freedom to explore the space more deeply.
Some locations inspire creativity once.
Others invite you to return.
And this guesthouse will always remain one of those places within the McKenzie Fox visual journey.
