A Collection of Twelve Creations

Some locations invite quiet.

Others invite imagination.

The Hurlingham Library House offered both.

With its expansive windows and a remarkable private library, this residence immediately spoke to the aesthetic I look for when choosing a place to create. The atmosphere carried a sense of calm intelligence — a space where time seems to slow, where light drifts gently across bookshelves and polished floors.

It was here that I created twelve carefully curated visual pieces, each designed to reflect the quiet elegance of the home.

The Setting

The defining feature of this residence was the library itself.

Tall shelves filled with books framed the room, creating a cinematic backdrop that felt timeless. Natural light poured through the large windows during the day, while the interior lighting in the evening brought a warmer, more intimate atmosphere to the scenes.

The contrast between light and shadow throughout the house allowed each video to take on its own mood and character.

In many ways, the setting became part of the storytelling.

The Creations

Within the Hurlingham Library House, I filmed twelve individual creations, each one designed as a quiet moment shared between myself and the viewer.

Some scenes unfold slowly within the library itself, surrounded by the calm presence of books and architecture.

Others explore the openness of the house — movement through space, pauses in natural light, and subtle expressions of presence.

The intention is never to rush.

Each creation is filmed with patience, allowing the viewer to feel as though they have stepped inside the moment rather than simply observing it.

The Atmosphere

There is something deeply reflective about filming in a home filled with books.

The library carries a sense of knowledge, curiosity, and contemplation. It invites stillness — and that stillness became an essential part of the collection.

In this environment, the camera becomes less of an observer and more of a quiet companion within the room.

A Chapter in the Archive

The Hurlingham Library House collection forms another chapter in my growing archive of location-based creations.

Each location I choose contributes its own personality to the work. The architecture, light, textures, and atmosphere all shape the tone of what is created there.

For collectors and supporters of my work, this series represents twelve moments captured within a space that celebrates calm, thought, and quiet elegance.

Another step in the evolving story of the McKenzie Fox visual library.
